Funny that this was also my last show & that also my journey began at The Spectrum on 11-5-79. How many people out there have those shows as a first and last ???
Love Vermont and lived there from 87 to 90, probably why I decided to attend, wasn’t much into the whole scene by then( obviously by what happened here with the gate crash - although I didn’t witness, & more likely was already in ready to see Dylan open)
As for the show , not even sure I listened to the whole thing ever , but heard Rollin & Tumbling , BTW Lucy & a few others , nothing like the playing of 80’s , but people will always say it’s not like the playing of the 70’s when comparing 80’s or 60’s compared to 70’s , so take what you need from shows ( especially people reliving memories) Enjoy the Music !

16 yrs old. First and only GD show. Drove up in a Honda with my best friends at the time. Was about 30 of us at a buddies cabin on Lake Champlain. We all went to school together but we didn't really all know each other. Spent 3 days like one big family having a blast. Some of my buddies flipped a canoe in the middle of lake about 2am and screamed for dear life until a bunch of of us woke up by the fire and launched a rescue mission. Nobody died. Next morning we all rucked up and made the 8 mile hike to the stage. My buddy Tony and I took some fluffer and announced our run for the Presidency to about 10k people on the way. By the time we got to stage seemed like everybody knew our names. Ate some mushies. Gate was already down by the time we got there and we just strolled right in. The boys came on and the music started. First couple chunes sounded like a giant merry go round. It would start softly from the right and get louder as it spun around. Waa as if the the stage was spinning around me in a huge circle. On top of it a colorful flow of liquid, pink blue green and white looking like its was flowing through the crowd towards me, and the grass that was laid flat was rising up tall like it was growing before my eyes. I saw some ol timers doing crazy dancing an stuff an alot of people I'd just met were all laughing at my amazement and naivity to the whole thing 😄😄😄. Def one of best experiences of my young life...then the show ended and we started walking down road and some buds picked us up on way to cabin....sadly show was over...we all remained friends but there never was a next time or next big show and life went on...all these years later I still listen to live shows very often and sometimes talk to my buddy Tony...sometimes I see a DSO show or Dead an Co...but there will never be another Grateful Dead show...so if you're young and reading this I'll tell ya lads and lasses, always buy the ticket, take the ride as Bill Hicks said at that time. Go to the show and have fun, meet new people, take the long scenic way, be kind to each other, learn to love without fear. Don't waste your time and patience on ridiculous bids that will lead you down the dark paths. Listen to the ol timers that know and have been there. Your life is precious and only happens once. You make the shows and the long trips great.

Got all excited there for a second- wait there's a SBD of this show?
Ah well, that's OK, still thankful for what I can get, mahalo archive.org.
Pretty good audience recording, my thanks to the tapers- couldn't have been easy raising a mic stand on that soft June Vermont soil. Just bringing the equipment in was probably a challenge with the chaos before the show as I recall!

Yeah. That was a really strange day. Was my last show. We lost Jerry just days later. And of course I enjoyed myself but it got a little rugged when the fence came down. It was the first time I've ever, and I mean ever , felt an ugly vibe like that in the pews. It felt significant that they did He's Gone. On the other hand it was a Wonderful venue. I'm going to miss my catechism. And I'm going to miss my extended family. Does anyone know who the guy in the cool flying parachute thing around was?
Love on ya everybody!

First show in years.A chinese new years? Santana. and then one decent Cap cntr.-I spent the next good bit of time incarcerated for trusting a 'Brother'-turned out to be the police.. now some wonderful woman wants to take me on tour as a 'welcome out' gift. drove up and took the ferry accross lake Champlain. Absolutely beautiful traveling up to the show!! -Then-- A Nightmare..Overcrowded..speedy acid..But the worst was Garcia..may as well been dead already. kept waiting for him to step up and jam.. Ramble on Rose left me stunned -One that was once such a vehicle for his magic, no longer. The Dead Machine killed Garcia. 90% of you hippies are affected bullshit artists. - I miss Jerry and it was such a sad and undignified way for such a special man to go out.- RFK was my last show, review and story to follow

Yesh, Highgate '95 was the apocalypse compared to '94.... The mellowness had gone away... like the animation at the start of the Dead movie when things go bad for the skeleton..... As a band, firing on all cylinders, but without the key to the castle..... Jerry was sick and smacked out and barely hanging on.... yet for how vulgar the scene had gotten, and how much Jerry was struggling.... both got worse as the summer progressed [NJ was a nightmare!!]. All I could think leaving this show was, Jerry needs to get clean and healthy... but the machine rolled on and tragically crashed. RIP Jerry

My last show as well . Brought my uncle and aunt to their only show . We told them during the set break to stay close . But newbies being newbies ...
But it wasn't their fault . The prior year at Highgate , a sell out , had about half the number of people . It was a zoo by the set break . A sad portent of things to come , as gate crashers easily waltzed right in .
There is nothing I can musically recommend . Liberty as my last song has a certain poetry for me . But I remember while they were playing it , watching the GD from the gate with my wife . We were trying to find our newbies , watching all the folks going by . It had an unusual feeling to it . I had been to bad shows before , but this was somehow different as I looked at all my fellow heads going by . Now , I can see that it was a last moment in time for me . Something gone that had had me , body and soul once . We waited for a few hours ( this before widespread cell phone use ) for my uncle and aunt . At one point my wife began crying and I did to . We finally found them . They had a terrible time . So did we .

This was the last show I attended. As I look back on Dead '95 I have one to summarize the scene, the music & the vibe--UGLY. I attended my 1st show at the Spectrum in Philly (01/05/79) I've been to many shows in between. It pains me to admit that this show @ Highgate was the END for me. I will give this show a 1 star rating I wish I could've ended my personal run on a high note however it just wasn't meant to be. By the way my all time favorite year for attending shows is 1990. My favorite listening year is 1972. DARK STAR RIP, GD.

I've heard alot of bad news about this show, but after listening to it, it isn't so bad. Maybe they were a little rusty after a couple of weeks off, and this being the first show of the midwest summer...whatever. The first set doesn't have any 'new' songs played and is pretty solid. Nice peggy o, el paso, ramble on rose, bt wind, loose lucy, promised. Second set was basically solid, really good drums/space with a special Box out of space, into a descent SOTm. What can you say? The drums were out of control. I'll say that it could have been Dark Star out of space., almost sounded like it goin into Box of rain. Oh well.

This was one of the most enjoyable shows. The band just seemed to have fun Bobby and Jerry were smiling and laughing the whole show. Just listen to the old favorites played, they were just jammin' and having fun.
